Fort Sumter was founded at *La Corona* in winter 2011. Werner Frick, Rolf Maag, and some other guests of the famous cigar lounge had met there, to try to play together (insiders call that “jam session”). As the drummer was to lazy to bring all his stuff in, he just took that old washboard which still was sitting in the cave. The sound was immediately so convincing that they started to meet regularly for jamming. In the same year they started playing at gigs in Russikon, Uster, and even that famous Blues & Jazz Festival in Rapperswil.
A few years later, bass-man Johnny Simmler joined the band  to add some groove, since then the band officially named "Fort Sumter electric"
